FINAL PROJECT: BUILDING MY IMMERSIVE LIBRARIES/MUSEUMS

Here is a screenshot of my world, I am creating and putting up my pictures, I put one up of: Tampa, Florida, Kobe Bryant at BC, Shooting range, Boston bruins arena, Metlofe stadium.
Here is the view of all the pictures up.  I had a hard time trying to make the image clickable and having them linked to a website, Meshmoon support never got back to me and my classmates struggled with this to, not sure if allows you to do this feature anymore.
Here I created things using shapes, I created columns, a banner and steps.
Here I created A brick affect walkway leading up to the steps.
Here I am deleting some things I did not want, I also was trying to put up some music in the background.
Here is what the whole thing looks like, I was able to put on music with the blank picture screen to the right of the column.  I was still not able to figure out how to have clickable images linked to a site.

This is building a 3d Immersive Library and Museum in Meshmoon.  It is a final exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College.  The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.  For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

IMMERSIVE LIBRARIES AND MUSEUMS

The following is a summary about Immersive Libraries and Museums, from the http://jied.org/ website.  What I read basically gave us the reader an insight on what is out there for us to get things easily and how people are out there to help us know what kind of new technology or virtual worlds are available."The Libraries and Museums technology working group known as (LAM.TWG) (Page 2)".  This group does the hard work, they define, implement, anything to do with library and museums that involved with Immersive Education.  There is a membership in order to be part of this.

This group (LAM.TWG), is extremely important in today's world because things are always changing everyday.  Things from how people obtain resources everyday keep changing. They want to make it easy for us to be able to go out and find info.  This is particularly good for libraries, since not a lot of people don't use libraries no more and they are more focused on online research.  In museums they use things such as "3D graphics and animation"(Page 3).  They use things such as videos, simulators, games and etc. as a way of being able to interact with people who visit and also a way of keeping up with the way people listena nd react around technology.

"LAM.TWG", works with strong objectives.  For example, "define and publish best practices fot the provision and assessment of Immersive Education Library and Museum Services"(page 3).  They also have seven criteria for success statements that they follow.  One that was interesting to me was, "Develop and maintain an up to date digital library of scientific and professional information related to Immersive libraries and museums"(Page 4).  I liked this one because, everyday things change and developers develop new things, so it is important to stay updated day in and day out with things.

"LAM.TWG" also uses cases to help them along the way.  They use real life situations that happened so they can use to help them improve things in there end.  It is extremely important to use virtual worlds to be able to teach people/students.  It is much more easy and fun way to learn.  I t can be used or even created in various languages.  "LAM.TWG", holds meeting with it's members via teleconferences or in the virtual world, once a month. This is a great way for every one to get updates and share things or ideas, the group even meets "face to face twice a year for three day sessions"(Page 8).

Class 9, Exploring Second Life

This is me getting onto the site http://secondlife.com/
After signing up for a free account I got onto the land, with an ocean.
Walking around and learning the different tools as walking, running and flying, I ended up in this area where there were other people and actually talked with me in Spanish.  Lucky for me I am Portuguese and I understood.
I then continued exploring and I ended up in this lounge with a pool.
I then ende up by this thing that looked like a coliseum.
I then continued on my journey and ended up in this music area full of clubs.
Inside the music clubs, I explored different areas and rooms and came across this interesting area with images of women and right around the corner were images that were very X rated to take pictures of.

In this assignment we explored different worlds.  It was fun and very easy to use.  It had better options as to what kind of avatars were available.  It was pretty cool to basically travel every where and do what ever you want and also the capability of talking with others from all over the world.
