I Uploaded the image again and wrote my name in blue using the paint brush tool, then I saved

it as a GIF file.

Here I uploaded the image again and wrote my name in black using the paint brush tool

and then I saved the image as a PNG file.

This is the final product as a PNG file.

This is me saving an image on gimp as different web formats such as, JPEG, PNG AND GIF.  The above screenshots shows the steps in order how I did them.  It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College.  The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics.  For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
